MacBook Repair Johannesburg: The Complete Apple Computer Repair Hub from ZA Support

If your MacBook has stopped working, dimmed, refused to charge, or taken a splash of coffee, you want one thing: a clear answer about whether it can be fixed and what it will cost. I am Courtney Bentl.

We work at component level. That means we do not simply swap whole logic boards and quote you the price of a new Mac. We get under the microscope, isolate the faulty component, and repair the board itself where it makes sense. Over the years we have repaired well over 14,000 logic boards in this workshop. That experience is the difference between a guess and a diagnosis.

Every Mac Repair We Do

We service the full Apple computer range: MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, iMac, Mac mini, and Mac Studio. From the older Intel models through to M1, M2, M3, and M4 Apple Silicon machines. Here is the spread of work that comes across our counter.

Logic Board Repair

The logic board is the brain of your Mac. When it fails, the symptoms vary: no power, no display, random shutdowns, a battery that will not charge, or USB ports that have gone dead. Most repair shops will tell you the board needs replacing, then quote a frightening number.

In our Hyde Park workshop we isolate the fault to the actual failed component. That could be a power management chip, a charging circuit, a backlight fuse, or a cracked solder joint. We repair it under a stereo microscope with a hot-air rework station. Board-level repairs typically run from R1,800 to R6,500 depending on the fault, and most are back with you inside three to five working days.

Liquid Damage and Corrosion Repair

This is some of our most common work. Johannesburg humidity does not help, and a single spill can corrode copper traces within hours. The danger is not always immediate. We see MacBooks that worked for a week after a spill, then died when corrosion spread.

If liquid has reached your board, switch the Mac off, do not charge it, and bring it in fast. We disassemble the machine, clean the board in our ultrasonic cleaner to lift corrosion off the traces, then test each rail to find what the liquid damaged. Acting within the first 48 hours dramatically improves the outcome.

Battery Replacement

A swollen battery is a safety issue, not a cosmetic one. If your trackpad has started clicking unevenly or the bottom case is bulging, stop using the Mac. A swelling lithium cell can damage the trackpad, the keyboard, and the chassis. Battery replacements generally fall between R1,500 and R3,200 depending on the model, and we usually turn them around same day or next day.

Screen Repair

A cracked or flickering retina display affects everything you do. We replace full display assemblies and, where the fault is in the backlight circuit rather than the panel, we repair that at board level instead, which can save you thousands. Pricing depends heavily on the model, so we quote after assessment rather than guessing.

Keyboard and Trackpad Repair

The butterfly keyboards on certain 2016 to 2019 MacBook models are notorious for sticking and repeating keys. We handle keyboard replacements and trackpad faults across the range. On some models the keyboard is part of the top case, which affects the cost, and we will tell you that honestly before we proceed.

Data Recovery

On 2018 and newer MacBooks, your storage is soldered to the logic board and protected by the T2 or Apple Silicon security chip. That makes recovery a specialist job. When a board has failed, we often need to revive it just enough to read the data off. We have pulled client files, photos, and years of work off machines that owners had written off completely.

What It Costs and How Long It Takes

Every repair starts with an assessment from R599. That fee tells you exactly what is wrong before you commit to anything. Where applicable, we work no-fix-no-fee, so you are not paying for a repair that cannot be done.

Most board-level repairs are completed within three to five working days. Battery and straightforward screen swaps are often same day or next day, subject to parts. Liquid damage cases vary because we cannot know the full extent until the board is cleaned and tested.

We serve Apple computer owners across Gauteng, within roughly 60 km of our Hyde Park workshop. That includes Sandton, Fourways, Rosebank, Randburg, Midrand, and surrounds.

Why Component-Level Repair Matters in Johannesburg

Load-shedding puts your Mac through repeated power cuts and surges. Those events stress charging circuits and power management chips. We see a clear pattern of charging faults that trace straight back to a power event. A surge protector helps, but the damage still lands on our bench regularly.

Replacing a whole board for a single failed component is wasteful and expensive. Component-level repair keeps perfectly good hardware out of the bin and keeps the cost sensible in Rand. That is the heart of what we do.

Can my MacBook be repaired if it has no power at all?

Often, yes. A dead MacBook usually means a fault in the power delivery path: the charging circuit, a blown fuse, or the power management chip. These are exactly the faults we isolate and repair at board level. Bring it in and the assessment will confirm what failed.

Is it worth repairing an older Intel MacBook?

It depends on the fault and the model. For many Intel MacBook Pro and Air machines, a board-level repair or a battery replacement gives you several more years of use for a fraction of replacement cost. We will tell you honestly when a repair is not economical. There is no point fixing a machine that will cost you more than it is worth.

How quickly must I act after a liquid spill?

Immediately. Switch the Mac off, do not try to charge it, and do not power it on to check if it still works. Liquid plus power equals corrosion and short circuits. Get it to us within 48 hours for the best chance of a clean recovery.

Will I lose my data during a repair?

In most board-level repairs your data stays intact, because we are fixing the board, not erasing storage. Where the storage chip itself is involved, we handle recovery as a separate, careful process. We always discuss your backup situation before we start.

Do you repair Apple Silicon Macs with the M1, M2, M3, and M4 chips?

Yes. We repair the full Apple Silicon range at board level. These machines have soldered storage and tighter integration, which makes component-level skill more important, not less. This is precisely the kind of work our workshop is built for.

How do I get a quote before committing?

Start with the assessment from R599. We diagnose the actual fault, then give you a clear price and turnaround before any repair goes ahead. No surprises added at the end. You decide with the full picture in front of you.

Bring Your Mac In

Whatever your MacBook is doing, or not doing, the first step is a proper diagnosis. Guesswork costs you money. A real assessment tells you exactly where you stand.

Message me a description of the fault and we will tell you the likely cause and next step. WhatsApp us on 064 529 5863 or book online at zasupport.com/book.
